Country Music Week - Part One (STAR WARS STYLE)

A long time ago, in someone's garage far, far away... Okay, it wasn't THAT long ago, but it was a fair three weeks ago (WHOOPS!).

Anyhow, I went to someone's garage as some of you know. Now, it wasn't an ordinary garage. No, no, it's called  The Tavern! I know what you're thinking, "Just because you gave it a name, doesn't make it THAT cool." But it is EXTREMELY cool. It's a place where countless country music performers go to do shows.

Now, if you've been there, you would see ALL of the autographs on The Tailgate (it's an ACTUAL tailgate from a 4x4), the signed pictures on the walls and ceiling, and all the Roughriders stuff. A whole corner was devoted to 'em! Anyway, on to that interview I promised! If it doesn't show up, click here.

It was absolutely FANTASTIC to get to talk to Codie Prevost and even MORE FANTASTIC that he took the time to answer my questions! I am SUPER sorry about all the background noise, but we WERE at a public place.

I learned a lot about Codie in our interview. Like, he likes LOVES to fish! He likes cooking, he'll put thing in the recipes that he's not supposed to, like he's experimenting with it! Codie is a really cool guy and I'd love to meet him again!

After my interview with Codie (thanks again man!) me and Dad went into the Tavern (the garage place), where we waited a few minutes for the show to start. It started with Bradley Tucker,  who decided what to sing by getting people (I was one of them!) to throw darts at a board. Thank goodness I had improved my aim or else, poor Bradley would of ended up with a dart in his leg. Or possibly his arm... Lets just say I am not too good at darts and leave it at that... ANYWAY, back to the blog. We threw darts at the board and he sang and played the song we landed on. After that, I got a picture with him and a singed poster!

Me and Bradley at the Green Carpet Down

Then Codie came and performed his songs with his AWESOME and colourful guitar. They were both great performers! Actually, they ARE great performers! Neither are dead or retired, so they ARE. Not were... After Codie's awesome performances, I went to get some souvenirs. I got signed CD's and a t-shirt (this time we remembered to pay). On they way home, we played his CD.

Well, come back soon (I hope) I will be doing another one sooner than this one! Until that time,

Country Music Week - Part Six (STAR WARS STYLE)

Hey! This is a recap of my LIVE CCMA Awards Tweets! I thought the CCMA Awards were REALLY cool! It was awesome that some of the people that I met won awards! It's kind of like your brother winning a soccer tournament, except none of them play soccer. Or are related to me. And it's not really a tournament. Okay it's NOTHING like that. I have to work on my comparisons...

That's them! Hope you enjoyed the awards as much as I did! This is the LAST thing that happened for CCMA week, so next time, look forward to my FIRST interview with a celebrity!!! Until we meet again,

Country Music Week - Part 4 (STAR WARS STYLE)

Hello everyone! First week of school was SO awesome! But (if you read the title you would know that) this post is not about school.

And just so you know, you have not missed anything. I'm going to do multiple posts, but I'm going to do them like the Star Wars saga. They won't be in order, but they'll still make sense. I promise.

So any way, recently I met Madeline Merlo, and she is SO AWESOME! She is a terrific songwriter and singer. She is also super passionate about the environment and animals.

She was at the London Drugs at the West Edmonton Mall promoting her new EP. The man helping her noticed my Country Music Week Media Pass and so I told him about my blog and that I started when I was eight and he said, "Whoa! That's really awesome! You know, Madeline really cares for all of the animals on Earth, so she would probably think your blog is super cool!"

He introduced me to Madeline, and I told her about my blog and gave her my card so she could check it out. (Yes that's right. I have business cards now!) She said, "It is so great that a kid your age could do something so huge like that! You know, you are going to change the world one day!" That really made me happy!

I told her I was going to do a blog sometime this week (and you're reading it). Anyway, after she signed a couple of autographs for me, I asked if we could do a video. Since her new single is called ALIVE, it gave me an idea. Here's the video we shot together.

And because it's such a great song, here's Alive;

Well, stay tuned, because more blogs are on the way! In the meantime...

Back to School

Well guys, tomorrow is the day I must return to the fortress of knowledge. Or more commonly known as, school. I am actually looking forward to it. I haven't seen ANY (okay I have seen one) of my friends. See, I live basically in the middle of nowhere, (just so you know, it's not Smallville) and practically all of my friends lives near... Actually, it would be more accurate if I said, they all live nowhere near me. So I've been pretty isolated. And lonely. And bored. So, it's pretty much the same as last year. And the year before that. And the year before that. Don't get me wrong, I love it out here. I don't want to move. So I'm just waiting for them to move here.

Anyway, we haven't gone to Boston Pizza yet, so I haven't tried pizza cake yet. And half way through the day, I forgot I was being southern. And, as we all know (or at least, I do) I couldn't finish all fifty books I had checked out. So, I couldn't finish my list. Oh well, I can try again next summer.

Alright, who knows what this is? I do.
http://torbooks.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/Tardis.jpg
Okay, if you read the URL, or ACTUALLY watch the show (which is Doctor Who, by the way) you would know it's the Doctor's TARDIS. It's a good show. See, I heard a lot about it from many different people (people being characters from books) so I decided to watch it. If you have never seen it, go watch it. Not right now of course, but once you're done reading this blog.

Anyway, back to the 'school' topic. This year, I'm going to have a different teacher for each subject. That is going to be different, but AWESOME because that would up my chances of being in my friends class, even if I don't have homeroom with them! I have a good feeling about this year.

Oh! I almost forgot! I am going to the CCMA Awards again this year! I can't wait!

Well, I'm pretty sure that covers it so, just remember to watch Doctor Who and

Book Review and My Top Ten Favourite Authors

I have just finished reading John Green's The Fault in Our Stars. It was an AWESOME book, but it also had a few sad things. Since I am in a public place, I tried my best not to cry my eyes out. I thought it was a beautifully written story, and I can't wait to see the movie. But first, I want to know a few things.

Thing one: What inspired John Green to start writing in the first place? He is a GREAT author and I thought it would be cool to know why he started writing and also why he wrote The Fault in Our Stars. I want to know what the cause was for this beautiful and sad story. Was it something that happened in his life? Was it just a thought he turned into words on paper for the world to read? I want to know his inspiration.

Thing two: Are the books An Imperial Affliction and  The Prince of Dawn real books? If so, then I want to read them.

Thing three: I want to know if the video game and e-mail reader things Issac has is real. Not that I'm blind and need it, I just thought it would be cool to know if they were real. That would be a funny, and cool thing to have.

I think John Green is up with my Top Ten Favorite writers now. Just so you know, here is a list of my favorite authors:

NUMBER 10: John Green. Since I have only read one of his books, his place is still yet to be determined.

NUMBER 9: Rachel Renee Russell. I absolutely ADORE her Dork Diaries. They are really great.

NUMBER 8: Hidenori Kusaka. The author of POKEMON ADVENTURES (art by Satoshi Yamamoto) is one of my FAVORITE graphic novel series'.

NUMBER 7: J.R.R. Tolkien. Author of The Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit. I really enjoyed the Hobbit book and movies. Can't wait for the last one!

NUMBER 6: Roald Dahl. Author of James and The Giant Peach, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator, and a lot more! I really enjoyed all these books and movies.

NUMBER 5: Marty Chan. The author of a bunch of my favourite books such as his mystery books (based off of his life experiences as a kid), Barnabas Bigfoot the Bigfoot with small feet, and so many more. Thanks for all the great stories, Marty!

NUMBER 4: J.K. Rowling. She wrote her Harry Potter series and got me into the wizarding world. After reading her books, I wanted to be a wizard like Harry and Ron.

NUMBER 3: Tom Angleberger. His Origami Yoda Chronicles got me into origami, the ancient art of folded paper. Thanks Tom!

NUMBER 2: Rick Riorden. The author of many mythology fiction (or maybe they're non-fiction?) books. He is the man who got me to like Greek mythology with his Percy Jackson series.

NUMBER 1: James Patterson. He writes all different types of books from stuff like I Funny to Maximum Ride (one of my favorite books). James Patterson is my all-time favourite author.

There you have it! My favourite authors! I recommend all books by them! Go ahead and read people! Remember, I'd like feedback on how to do these better and I'd like to hear what you think of these authors! Thanks for reading and until next time,

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (AGAIN)

Well, it's that time of year again. If you know the song, fill in the blank. 'I gotta go back! Back! Back to ______ again! Whoa-oh, I gotta go!  Back to ______!' School is starting really soon and I really think it's going to be EVEN CRAZIER THAN LAST YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope I do good. I also hope it won't be as dramatic as all the novels about 7th grade. I highly doubt it will be THAT bad, though. Or will it...

Anyway, since school is right around the corner, I thought 'Hey, let's see what stuff I can do before it starts.' So, I'm going to do ALL the stuff I haven't done yet. Wait. There's more. If there's anything you guys think I should do, comment. Or don't. It doesn't matter. I already have like, 10 things to get done.

So, I know I haven't been blogging lately, but I've just had a lot of stuff going on. But that's no reason for me to have been gone for such a long time.

I think I could do something(s) to make my blog better (besides more posts I know I have to do that). So, if you have any suggestions on how to make it better, comment. I think that if I knew the stuff I could do to make it better I would have a better idea of what to do each time I write. Example: You should add more pictures or make your posts longer and have facts about sharks and the oceans.

I'd really appreciate some feedback. I I'll do my best to follow the suggestions and post more. Even though school is starting soon, I'll try to blog for the rest of the summer and sometimes during school. I hope I can do this more. Thanks for reading! Remember...

First time for everything

Wow! Hey everybody! How are you doing? First of all, I wanted to say, I THOUGHT THIS WAS SPRING!! I don't know how it is where you are, but at my house, it's still snowing! You know how the ground hog said it was spring in 6 weeks? Well, that was almost 8 weeks ago. I know that it's not in charge of the weather, but still.

Anyway, on a more important note, it's the first time Earth Hour has a SUPER HERO AMBASADOR!! Can you guess who? It's Spider-Man! He is my all time bug-based super hero. He's total rockets! Anyway, for more on the subject, check out http://www.earthhour.org/superhero for more info. While we're on the subject, I'd like you to focus on the part where it say's "I'm FINished With FINS" I was all "Son of a mynock! This is awesome!" It's a petition to stop shark finning!

Remember how I said "First time for everything"? Well, it's the first time Earth Hour has a super hero ambasador, the first time I realised how stupid the ground hog is and my first blog from my iPod! Now I have one two! Well, that pretty much covers it, except for...

The Last Day

I started this blog yesterday, but couldn't publish it until today.

Hey everyone! This is the last day I'm going to be 11 so, I was going to celebrate that, but I found something more important to celebrate...

Today, the Canadian soldiers who fought in Afghanistan are coming back. Well, most. About 150 Canadians died in that war, 46 of which were from Alberta. I can't believe all those people died because of another stupid war! This thing lasted around 12 years, so the battle was going on for... as long as I have lived, maybe longer.

One of the saddest things about it, is two of the people IN MY SCHOOL were brutally affected by this. Logan and China Little lost their uncle in this, now their baby sister will never get to meet him, and if she has she probably won't remember him.

I can't imagine losing my uncle. He is one of the most important people in my life. So I guess, we aren't mourning death... We are going to celebrate their lives and we are going to thank them for their sacrifice. To those of you who have lost a loved one in this or any other war, I am sorry about your loss.

But, as I said, we are celebrating life! They did what they could to make this world a better place. To the people who went to the war, I am very proud of all of you and you are making the world a better place. Not just the soldiers, every good person in the world is doing a huge part in making the world a better place, just by doing good things. They don't have to be super HUGE good things, like stopping global warming or anything, just doing the right thing in your community.

On a cheerier note, I'm on the CCMA website! Cool, huh? Anyway, have you read Princess Label Maker to the Rescue by Tom Angleberger? It's an Origami Yoda book, and it's STOOKY! So thanks for your support and remember...

2014

Hello everybody! How are you all doing? This is my first blog of 2014 and I can't be-LIEVE it took me a whole month to do it!!! Anyway, if you are on my twitter page, then you know thatcI have HUGE news! Ok, here goes... a Dim Sum in Edmonton (Cha For Tea Palace) does NOT use real shark fin in their shark fin dumplings!!!!!!! This is a day which will be remembered for years to come! Or, by me at least.

Well, I've got more to tell, so sit back and enjoy the post! First off, I have been told that Marty Chan is giving away one of his Demon Gate books and I thought that ONE of you lucky readers could win it! So, here's how this is gonna work. All you have to do is leave a comment on my blog and your name will be entered into the draw to win the book! Easy as pie, huh?

Next order of business; responsibility. At school, the office found almost 20 iPod touch's! 20! Can you believe it?! So we gotta look after our stuff more, huh? As we all know, I am an Origami Yoda fan, right? So, when I heard Tom Angleberger was writing ANOTHER book, I almost immediately wanted one. But, it doesn't come out 'till March. Well, lot's of good things in life, must be waited for, am I right?

Oop! Mom just told me I have to be done in the next 5 minutes, so I guess ,THAT'S ALL, FOLKS! Oh, and...

Merry Christmas

Hey, everyone! Can you believe another Christmas has come and gone already? It's INSANE!!! Personally, I think this Christmas was the BEST! (Yet!)

Anyway, have you heard of Marty Chan's new(ish) book, Demon Gate? I wanted to do a blog about this for a while, actually, but I wanted to read his other books first, but some of them haven't arrived at the library yet. Plus, I wanted to do this blog before 2013 ended. So, Demon Gate is the first in the Ehrich Weisz Chronicles. Actually, I'm kinda sad it took me this long to blog about his book launch, back on November 26.

Anyway, Marty put on a good magic show while explaining his book. He did this magic trick where he got a girl in the audience to wave her hand over two chalk boards to reveal Ehrich Weisz is also Harry Houdini! I helped him put on hand cuffs and took the keys. He got out like Harry Houdini did. It was really cool!

But the coolest thing he did (and I apologize for not having a picture) was when he got out of a straight jacket! It took a few tries, since it was a rather tight fit and got stuck only once, for a moment or two, but if Harry could do it, Marty could too. Good Christmas reference, right? Anyhow, when he got out we all applaud, and he read us some of his book. I won't share to much detail, but it is SUPER McBOSSNESS!! He made a high tech bowler hat like in the book, and it looked pretty cool!

Marty signed my book, too! It read, "To Oscar, a great assistant and an amazing person!"
Here is a picture with me and Marty. I hope you get a chance to read it too. Before I forget, did everyone have a good holiday? My Christmas wish was for people to stop shark finning because...

AND MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!!

BIG NEWS!

Hey everyone! Geez, can you BELIEVE how LAZY I've been?! No blog since September 8th!! That's like... Uh... Bear with me I'm counting... Does 2 months and 10 days sound right to you? WOW!! 2 MONTHS and 10 DAYS!!!!! Well, in my defense I've been at school learning... Stuff. Yeah. Also, not much happened in 2 months and 10 days.

Anyway, as you can tell by the title, I've got something important to say. Okay, first, picture yourself as a cow. Your living a happy life. La la la. Then the farmer randomly takes you  to a wooden barn- like place and... BLAM! Your a hamburger.

So, did that make you feel weird? Getting turned into a hamburger made you feel weird, right? Well, if you think you as a metaphorical cow getting turned into a metaphorical hamburger is bad, how do you think a REAL cow feels about getting turned into a REAL hamburger???

That is why I have gathered you all here to day for. I am now a PESCO-VEGETARIAN!!! I know what your thinking... "WHAT THE HECK IS A PESCO-VEGETARIAN?!?!??!!" Well, it's a vegetarian, that is cool with eating fish. So that TOTALLY ties in with me being against animal cruelty and ALL ABOUT sustainable sea food. To learn more go to:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/chloe-spencer/pescetarianism_b_956965.html

This is just like the moon landing. "It's one small step for an eleven year old kid, one giant leap for eleven year old kid-kind." Well, not EXACTLY like the moon landing, but it's close enough.

Oh! One more thing. This is my lifestyle choice. I'm not letting anyone change that.

Canadian Country Music Fanfest

Hello, everybody! Did anyone go to the Canadian Country Music Fanfest? If you did, hope you had a great time and if you didn't go, I'll tell you all about it!

So me and Dad went to the place at the Shaw conference center and we walked around. We entered a contest, looked at the prize, and then the concert started. We started out with everyone else. Then dad gave me his phone and he let me go to the media place. (I was borrowing dad's media pass)

After a few songs, Michelle Wright said "There's a young boy over here in the media area and I just feel he is have a truly good time listening to our music. Do you enjoy writing music, singing or dancing?"  I said "Sure." They all laughed. A few songs later Aaron Pritchett said "The youngest media person I've ever seen is down here. I mean he's like 10 and he's there taking pictures and just rockin' out. Why don't you come on up here?" So he pulled me up on to the stage and I got to take some pictures from there. I bet you want to see the pictures I got from the stage? Here they are!

Me

Bet no one has seen a picture of Jason Blaine like this before!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As you can see, I am practicing my Darth Vader voice.
No not really. I was saying NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO because I've gotta go back to school.

This time, I kid you not. This day shall be remembered as: "The day school took over 400 children prisoner." I am prepared, though. I will be equipped with a purple back pack (and matching lunch kit) and an Origami Yoda. With these tools, I will defeat the FUNTIME MENACE!!! Not really but if boringness finds it's way into school (and I'm sure it will) I will be ready.

Oh! I just remembered something you guys might want to hear... I WON MY PIKACHU!!!!!! We went to Calaway Park and I saw a game. A game just like the one at K Days. But not lame. It had 3 targets instead of 1. You had to play to get 150 points. The grand prize was... A PIKACHU!!! Lauryn and I played it, and I almost lost. The guy next to me had 140. But, I got to 150 before him! And I WON MY PIKACHU!!! I decided to name him Pika.

Well, I hope you (or your kids) are ready for back to school!

Just wow

Why is there so much hate in the world? You know the kid who got sent that letter from that evil, hateful person? That's what I'm talking about. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THAT GUY?!!?!?!!?!?!?!?!!??! If you're reading this WHY WOULD YOU DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT!?!?! Why is there so much hate in the world? Don't treat people like that everyone. The same goes for sharks.  http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/story/2013/08/20/autistic-boy-family-receives-euthanize-letter-ontario-newscastle.html

Karma

It's one thing that happens all the time. Do something nice you get good Karma. Like I did. One of the ladies at the No Frills store near where my grandparents live, didn't have a loonie for a cart, so I gave her mine and she said she had a dollar, but not in one coin. I told her she could keep her money, and she said "Thank you." I knew it would cause good karma for me. And then there's Lauryn. I said I wouldn't help her with Poptropica a zillion times because I already helped her a zillion and one times. She freaked, I made coupons, because I did a zillion and one things, so I made the 5 coupons. They were small things, and now that I think about it, they were kind of stupid. I'm going to rip them up. BRB.

Anyway, she was freaking out with that. At first she thought it was okay, but I  said no to helping her with Poptropica, and she flipped a cup holder and ran off, so flipping tables=bad karma. Thanks for reading. Bye.

K Days Experience

Hey everyone! I hope you had fun at K-Days yesterday, because I had a great time!!!!! I shall tell you about it from the beginning! So, once my family, Mom, Dad, Lauryn and I got to K-Days we say right off the bat some AWESOME RIDES! The first one was called the Sling Shot and the other was the called the Skyscraper. I didn't go on either because of the lines...Yeah,that's it...Lines... Anyway we walked around for a bit and we played some games like that one where you squirt water at the target and the stuffed whatever goes up? Well, I played the game and I almost won a stuffed Pikachu! It was SO awesome! I really wanted it, so Mom, Lauryn and I played the game and I ALMOST got that Pikachu, but I lost. The sign said every kid that plays got a prize, so maybe there was hope for me yet! WRONG! I got this cheap plastic sword that you can get for 50 cents at the dollar store, and before we even left the game it broke. Dad said I must be thinking "That's not what FAIRS ARE ABOUT! THERE IS NOTHING FAIR ABOUT THIS! THEY SHOULD CALL IT AN UN-FAIR!!!" He was right.

After that Mom got a Double Bacon Corndog. Here's a link: http://instagram.com/p/cPu4iQhNqG/

I was kinda REALLY glum after I tried really hard to win something that I didn't get and instead, I got a crappy little plastic sword, and all the rest of the day I saw people walking around with stuffed Pikachu's and Minions. Dad and I went to the sports stuff and it was sort of neat. I would have been more into it if I got my Pikachu... Anyway after, we went to the farm place, and it was pretty neat. I rode a mechanical bull!!!

My little sister, Lauryn rode it, too! Watch this HILARIOUS video.
Yeah... Anyway, this is me with an ancient snail. Just so you know, the only animal I like more than snails is sharks.

I made a hand out of wax. These pictures show me dipping my hand in really hot wax and the second is me with 7 layers of hot wax and the last is the colour being added.

This is me and my little in the wheel of a GIANT HUGE MEGA tractor. It was so big I called it Crop Digger. you know... Like Grave Digger... Oh never mind.
